Well, I just called a dealer. I won't name names in order to protect the innocent. This dealer is one of that area's biggest dealers of new cars and also happens to sell Jeeps (just as a reference point). I asked to speak to someone who could tell me about the Crosslander and the receptionist knew exactly what I was talking about (or pretended to) and she forwarded me to a sales rep who made it clear he for sure knew what I was talking about. He was very interested in talking to me but was appologetic because quite frankly they haven't been given ANY information. He said he didn't even have a picture of one yet. He said "if you've been to the web, you know as much as we do". He added that they were all very interested to see this vehicle but that the last they heard it would be "the first of the year" before any landed in the states. He even went to the Sales Manager and asked just to see if he had gotten anything in the last couple of days. I'm on the guy's mailing list, he said he would send a pamphlet or whatever as soon as he got one.
That being said, why hasn't Crosslander or whatever their name is made a bit more of an effort to launch these if they are really due to hit our shores in the next 2 months?

I see no their dealers in CA <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" />
Is it due to emission standarts ?

Hey Fellas, ill tell you what i know...

Called up my rep [who seems to be one of two; Savannah, Georgia.]

Here's what he said:

+Mainly, they are distributing through the east coast, through Miami and Jacksonville [FLA.] and possibly Brunswick, GA as well.

+It seems that it was initially under contract as a Romanian military vehicle... but the Brazilian company bought the contract.
My dealer said he drove it... very rugged and capable [i dont know the validity of this statement, but he sounded like an honest guy, if not very nervous... aside from him, no one in the place knew anything about the Crosslander.]

+ As for shipment numbers... 10 trucks every NINETY days [estimates so far.]

+ One last thing... he said they worked on it and it WILL pass EMISSIONS without a problem... and, it was delayed from 4th quarter of 2002 to 2003 because they wanted to "improve" {not sure what that means} it for american models...

Hehehe, hope this help stir up somemore excitement... im workin on convincing my folks as we speak (stupid dodge caravan <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" /> )

Isuzu Hello!! why don't you make something like that and get back in the 4x4 market!! anyone notice that when they made rugged utility trucks back in the 80s there sales were the highest they have ever been. Its time they go back to the basics just like this company has.

I swear that thing looks like a 1st gen Trooper with an updated 2.8 TD powerplant. Now if we could just convince Isuzu to let us have the parts and pieces they already have on the shelf before they leave the U.S.! Couldn't we have the best of everything. Who needs heated cup holders and lighted vanity mirrors on the the sun visors. That crap they could leave off and give us lockers instead.
Looks like somebody is going to make some money off of Isuzus short sightedness. Or is that GM's fault?
