Hey Curtis, you miss one point: Isuzu cannot just take these parts of the shelf and sell them to us. If this would happend, they would need to go thru the huge number of various safety commisions and standards boards. It is not that easy. And it is simply impossible with old truck design. As far as I know, each car/truck in USA must conform to the multiple goverment standarts. Plus, each car/truck must conform to multiple additional not-so-formal standarts - otherwise Isuzu would be killed by multiple law suits from customers. I am sorry but it looks like impossible to return to the market with an old truck.
We are lucky enough becouse we live in USA and we can keep, at least, our old cars and trucks. In some parts of the world you would be FORCED by a goverment to retire your old truck/car after, say, 3 or 5 years of ownership. So, do not complain about absence of the 'new old' trucks - at least we can keep just 'old' ones (and we can buy them second hand, also).
Best regards, Oleg

Looks like somebody is going to make some money off of Isuzus short sightedness. Or is that GM's fault? But if they are only going to import 40 a year, what's the point? I'll never see one...

Anyone notice the tripometer has 4 miles and odometer has 1? (I guess they are kilometers but point remains)

Now here's a REAL diesel SUV: http://www.off-road.com/vw/features/trooper/trooper.htmlAnyone ever look into the possibility of importing a Bighorn TD and making it legal? Or know of an available source of Isuzu TD 2.8's or 3.1's?

It's very sad to say, but I think I'm still a couple of years away from a Moab trip --- HOWEVER, the thought had already crossed my mind to try and get one of the dealers around here to bring one to Uwharrie, in April.
... And if they are truly serious about attracting the attention of the east coast's off-road set, they might also want to try flogging a couple of them around on a few of the easier trails at Tellico. --- One way or another, surely THAT would show us what their vehicle is really made of.
I'm VERY interested in seeing one of these things in action... Too bad about the IFS though I was really stoked when I thought it had a SFA.
Cheers! Smiley
Six Isuzus, so far... still have three of them.

My brother just bought my dad's '91 Land Cruiser (Dad upgraded to a '94 with the 24valve engine) and he's been looking into the possibility of using an Isuzu NPR engine - four banger turbo diesel. Apparently they both use the same transmission. But that may just be foke lore since he knows of none that have been done (and he knows his Cruisers this was his last one http://www.angelfire.com/id/v8j60/forsale.html and it doesn't even mentin the JDM 5-spd). Anyway - I've often wondered what the possibility of using a Isuzu medium duty truck diesel in a Trooper was. Anyone have any idea? If not, I'm just going to keep hoping for the crosslander. Heath
