Back in '71, I spent 2 weeks at Parris Island trying to become one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children - then got a quick bus ride home when they found out I was only 15. Girls, surfboards & motorcycles got in the way and kept me from returning. Back then it was just an adventure. Once I got older, missed some friends who didn't come back from SE Asia (and finally got my father to talk about Normandy), I could appreciate the sacrifice and committment made by those who actually serve(d).

It's a different world today, but the need for good soldiers is still there.
