WTG BILL!!!!!$158.95! --- And that’s with the $35 core charge included!East Central Illinois is a long way to go to buy someone a beer, so let’s just say you’ve got some brew waiting, on account, any time you’re ever in this neck of the woods! I can’t thank you enough for that link. --- If things don’t go well locally, then that’s quite likely the e-direction I'll be heading. *Two thumbs WAY up!* Cheers! This is the way to solve your alternator woes:) http://member.atlantic.net/~sun1/180Amp%20Alt/180Amp%20Writeup.jpgNow a few things I have modified after I did this install, still need to find time to fix trhe write up and show new modifications. GM makes a standard 110Amp that has the same body as the 180Amp, it is also a much stronger unit. I bought a spare at an alternator shop for 75$ reman. 90% of all Electrical problems come from that stupid clip harness just above the battery. When you rewire get rid of that harness. By changing to that GM Alt, straight wiring the remainder of the battery removing harness and self exciting my Alternator I have all the power I need and then some. Best mod I have ever done.

Would this kind of alternator upgrade be just as doable for a '99 Trooper. I've added a lot of components and would prefer to have a bigger capacity, stronger alternator? Thanks.

I really don't know on the 3.5 engines. What changes did they make overal? was it just the heads? or did the block change?
If they just chnaged the heads on the 3.5 and it has the same postioned alternator along with the upper harness it should be fine.
Ive never looked under the hood of anything above a 96 so I really don't know.
