Miss Kathy and I thought weÆd take a little ride in the country this evening, and enjoy the first snowfall of the season. --- We headed up the old Camp Iva Road, over East River Mountain, and into Virginia.
<img src="http://home.sunlitsurf.com/~e-zoozoo/CIR-2.JPG" alt=" - " />
From time to time, we stopped along the way to take-in the sights and sounds of nature. --- I must say that I feel truly blessed to live within a 15-minute drive of places such as those seen hereà and having someone wonderful to share it withà PRICELESS!
<img src="http://home.sunlitsurf.com/~e-zoozoo/CIR-3.JPG" alt=" - " />
As darkness began to set-in upon us, I soon discovered that the flash on my digital camera was just about useless, and that it reduced the depth and clarity of the photos to practically nothing. --- So, I by-passed the auto flash, and continued on.
<img src="http://home.sunlitsurf.com/~e-zoozoo/CIR-4.JPG" alt=" - " />
As we made our way down the backside of the mountain, the snow began to fade away with our loss of elevation, but the scenery itself suffered little for this. --- We took one of our favorite side trails, and found it to be as beautiful as ever. --- However, with the fading light, my digital camera was having more and more trouble capturing what our eyes were seeingà Nevertheless, I kept on taking pictures.
<img src="http://home.sunlitsurf.com/~e-zoozoo/CIR-5.JPG" alt=" - " />
The coming darkness seemed to pixilate the photos. --- I began to notice the grainy, fuzzy quality of the pictures as they displayed themselves upon the screen, making them look very much like an Impressionist painting. (On my honor, I did not retouch these photos!)
àHmmmà Did I say æOne of OUR favorite side trailsÆ? --- With all of the rain that weÆve had lately, the puddles were overflowing, so I suppose I should have said ÆOne of MY favorite side trailsÆ. û LOL
<img src="http://home.sunlitsurf.com/~e-zoozoo/CIR-6.JPG" alt=" - " />
Back at the creek crossing, located in a moderate clearingà though not as much soà there still seems to be a rather haunting quality to the picture.
<img src="http://home.sunlitsurf.com/~e-zoozoo/CIR-7.JPG" alt=" - " />
Once we were back on the Camp Iva Road, and headed for home, we spotted three deer making their way across the road; however, their reflexes in crossing it were far quicker than mine were at getting the camera readyà So youÆll just have to settle for this last one, showing where we parked for a while, and failed in our hopes of seeing some more deer.
<img src="http://home.sunlitsurf.com/~e-zoozoo/CIR-8.JPG" alt=" - " />
When we got home, and I reviewed the many photos that I had taken (many of which display the Impressionist 'look' far better than some of these), it occurred to me that Claude MonetÆs style of painting might have owed more to his poor eyesight than anyone realized. --- Yes, I know that itÆs a popular theory that the ælookÆ of his later works are believed to be due to his glaucoma, but thatÆs all about the loss of æjoie de vivreÆ (vibrancy) in his use of color. --- No, I mean that itÆs possible that his failing eyesight, and his ability to focus upon things might have been a problem MUCH earlier than anyone was aware, and that this inability was what caused him to paint the way he did. --- ItÆs quite possible, especially given some of the photographs that I took this evening (particularly #5), that he was merely painting everything exactly the way that he saw it, all along.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the photosà The resulting Art History postulations are completely free of charge. - LOL

I used to live less that 15 minutes from those nice back road out of the way places...more like on a back road in one of those out of the way places. That was when I was living in NE PA. Now in NE MA I can't even find a dirt road within 15 minutes of me to get away on. I'm glad to see that you aren't taking it for granted Smiley. nice pics. One day I'll be back home.

when looking for a container to hold drained brake fluid, find a container that is different from the beverage you are currently consuming.

The first time around, it was really hard for me to pare-down to just eight photographs (the image limit for an individual post), but since this thread has received such positive responses, I thought IÆd share a few more pix from last night. --- Enjoy!
