did you change the front shocks? I have a similar setup to you and have just left everything stock lengths, I have noticed that with the 33's you run out of travel before the shocks are at their limit, except on the front.

Also the rubbing is most likley from the frame, Mine slightly rubs on the frame at the rear of the tire. Also be carful if you are wheeling with the stock bumper and MTR's mine caught on the front bumper and rolled the corner in, but I think it was because that side of the bumper was already a bit bent.

I am anxiously awaiting my TJM front winch bumper

JG,

What do you think of the 4.56's? I have the GM 10-Bolt with 4.30's and really feel the pain. At about double nickels I think I'm ~64MPH and the engine is sure working harder...but I am going to fix that.

Well I guess I was a bit hasty in my bio, I did a 3rd memeber swap up front with 4.56 ratio, but have not changed the back, I have been wating for my detriot electrac to come in, which it finally has, I will have the new gears installed by this weekend, and will be able to give you an idea of their helpfulness. I too have had big time power problems at highway speeds, and also have problems accelerating.

I talked with Joe D. a while back, and he talked me out of an engine swap, he said that the 4.56 change is like night and day. So I will be anxious to see what happens

nice job matt, id be a tad worried about rubbage in the back since the leafs flex reasonably and when you stuff you will probaboly rub there.

WOOHOO!! Looks good Matt! Now you'll basically be able to drive over anything, especially since you were able to get through almost anything when you were still stock.
I do agree with Joey though. Looks like a tight fit for the tires, but looks good nonetheless.
Congrats!

To all thanks for the complements

Curtis,

That is what I did as far as cutting the quarter panel back...I took the plastic cover off, straighten out the lip, then I cut off the excess and folded back a new lip to mount the plastic back on to. Now I just have to dress up the paint, trim the plastic and button it up a little better.

As far as rubbing in the back I jacked up the wheels and it looks like I just barely clear in the back. As this was a New England vehicle, my rear fender wells are showing the telltale signs. So, at some point in the near future, I will just cut the stuff off, bend a new lip in and put fender flares on.

Hey Matt

Your truck rocks!!!! Can't wait to see you at the next BC Zu Fest.
I'm not sure what I will have then, right now mine is so rusty I pulled it off the road but will probably put it back on for the summer.

You are not going to believe what a difference those improvements are going to make on the rocky terrain we have up here.

I think Keith is keeping his eyes open for a Trooper with a decent body and cooked engine or drivetrain for me. Ebay had an 89 2 dr. that went for 270.00 but it was in NY so...... but that would have been perfect. My drivetrain is in perfect condition right to the fully charged AC so I would love to swap the whole thing over to a good body. And a 2 dr would be awesome.

Keep up the great work man!

Hey Scott, give me a call at work. I've got the mig and a bunch of steel; maybe we can plate where the rust is worst, just a patch job til you find a new body. I have the tools and the shop, so .... 1 800 820-7774
