Most of you guys know that Colorado is being hammered by snow right now. Some of you know that I live in the middle of nowhere. I've never seen anything like this before.

I have a good 5 feet of snow outside the house right now and 40+ MPH winds. I have to keep digging out the doors just to get outside. I want to make sure they stay dug out so we dont get locked in the house. Its kinda weird. All the roads are closed and the power keeps going on and off.

We have food for the two of us for at least a week so thats not a concern. Maybe I should fill some water jugs in case the power goes out and our well pump quits. Im gonna try and get some pictures of the drifts and snow sculptures.

To keep this Isuzu related, before it got really bad, I went out last night and patrolled some of the roads looking for stranded motorists. Didnt find any. My Amigo is parked behind another vehicle, and except for being encased in about a half-inch of ice is totally accessable. Once the wind dies, Im gonna go out again.

For anyone else in CO, stay warm and safe. The road isnt a good place to be right now.

Kevin

Kevin,

Be well... Keep warm... Don't over-do-it on the constant shoveling... And by all means, yes, please take TONS of pictures!

Cheers!

Make sure you bring extra gas... and some survival gear if you go out on the roads. Never can be too safe.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Can't wait for the pics!

We've had our share of snow here in NY this winter, but 5 feet!

Our worst was 2 feet (a lot for NY).

Well, I got outside and tried to take some pics. Its on old tech camera, 35mm. Purchased in 1982 so I need to get the film to a processor before I can post anything.

I hope they turn out. I was having problems with the mirror freezing while I was trying to shoot. Also, its so white out there the light meter was useless. I tried using the F-16 rule but who knows how the exposure will work. I was also getting bad ice buildup on the lens and was trying to clean it between shots. I took about 15 pics.

When the wind dies, I will try for more. Until then we put up some water in jugs. We have propane for cooking so thats not an issue. If power goes, heat goes, but we have some cold weather bags, fur blankets, etc... The storm is supposed to let up tomorrow so I can try and get onto the roads. I'll let you know as things develop.

Man that sounds horrible . Makes me grateful I live in a state where it might have a few flurries once every 20-30 years! Stay safe and warm, and be careful drivin in it. I used to live in Illinois about 5 years ago and have seen my share of snow accidents and I wouln't want to hear it happend to someone from the wire.
Stay safe and don't forget the pics I haven't seen snow in awile,
Nick
