I’m sure you all remember the scene in the movie ‘Smokey and the Bandit’, where Jerry Reed’s character, ‘The Snowman’, has just gotten is arse thoroughly kicked in that biker bar… He just barely managed to drag himself back to his rig. --- Then you see the look of pain and anguish on his face quickly change to one of menace, as he erupts with laughter, and exacts his revenge by running over the entire row of motorcycles…
Well, is it just me, or has anyone else found themselves laughing exactly like that, every single time they get in their`Zu, after raising it the full 3 + 3-inches?
I am truly amazed that I am so easily swayed toward such a puffed-up mentality, but there it is, nonetheless. --- The fact is, I actually don’t even have to climb aboard… Sometimes I find myself just looking at it and getting a silly grin, as if I were heavily medicated.
If anyone here cares to search for the comment… Soon after joining the Online Isuzu Community, I seem to recall that I once stated that I had no interest, whatsoever, in raising my Rodeo the full 6-inches, and that I’d be perfectly content with just the 3-inch suspension lift.
--- Yeah… Well let this be a lesson to all of you weekend warriors out there who have uttered similar sentiments…
Isuzu modification is highly addictive, and once you’ve started, the lure to continue is ever-present… It’s a slippery slope to which you soon have very little (if any) immunity or self-control.
For instance, in my case, I now have a set of 32-inch tall M/T tires, a 3-inch suspension lift, and I’ve only just recently completed the body lift… Already my mind wanders toward such things as Tera Low gears, selectable lockers, front & rear steel bumpers, a solid axle swap, larger tires, and a whole host of other things.
--- Ain’t it great to be young and insane?
And so what’s the moral of the story? --- Well, let’s just say that I’ve now joined the ranks of those very same people who once jeered me for declaring that I wasn’t going to modify my rig ’that much’. --- I suppose in the future that I too will be saying “Yeah, right!” to an awful lot of people.
Cheers! Smiley
Six Isuzus, so far... still have three of them.

I know what you mean. I swear all my money goes into my Amigo. But it is all for a good purpose, right.
I always wanted to go bigger, but my Dad said, absolutly not, your not wrecking you mothers car. Then next thing you know I have every after market part avalible. Then it was, don't even think about putting a solid axle under it. Now it's how long until you start your SAS. I think I gave my dad Isuzu fever. He now owns an 89' Amigo that he has started to build.
But yes it is very addictive.

*Ducking and running*
and to bring this back on subject:
I never did anything to my 88 trooper (outside of maunal hubs because the auto hubs failed). When I picked up the Amigo, we found out about Colorado Zu, and went there with the stock rig. We followed Michael Wood on mild trails - he had the CP Lift and 31s or 32s, and would cruise right over things that I got hung up on. I got tired of hearing Dan in the back seat saying "Dad, we gotta get a lift on ours!". So I did the CP lift. Then I got 32's. Then I bought the ARB locker (but it still sits just inside the bedroom door!). Then when the 32s wore down, I did the 1" BL and got 33s. I wonder what is next?
"We ain't got time for hushpuppies". (or something pretty close to that anyway. It's been a while since I've seen the movie). [ June 03, 2003, 07:25 PM: Message edited by: Jeff Mason ]

I know how you feel!! I remember telling myself that I'd never get a body lift. But somehow I convinced myself other wise. And now I'm in the middle of a SAS Oh yeah, and I'm quickly getting very poor of of it.
I also bought an 88 trooper to get me to and from work and now i'm seriously thinking about doing a 2-3" Susp. lift and a Body Lift. Only because I'll have some left over 33" tires from doing the SAS.

Well I had that exact feeling myself when I got done and bolted on my boggers! Than my dad had to stand on the back bumper to get over the hump at the entrance to his garage and made it out by ONLY 2in [ June 03, 2003, 07:33 PM: Message edited by: 33boggers ]
