I spoke to my buddy who has owned a late 80's monty and he told me that he remembers a seat belt recall by mitsu.
Does anyone remember this and what was the fix?
It should be easy to tell if the work was completed.
Safety first.
Charlie K.

Your best bet is to call your local dealer and ask if there's one for your rig.
There's also an online resource but I don't remember it's details right now but I'm sure someone will remember it.
Ray

My 1989 4dr was recalled to replace the seat belts. I imagine (but don't know) that Mitsu had to keep track of this by VIN, since it was a safety recall. I'll see if I can find any of the recall paperwork. It might have a phone number or something.

I just had this done. All they do is rebuild your recieving seat belt thingys. No they dont give ya brand new ones. And its cause most of them have weak plastic red inside parts that crack. Go to your dealer and be prepared to wait for awhile. My local guys took about three days to figure out what to do. DUH???????

Charlie,
I had this done after a bit of a run around. It was eventually done by Central Dodge in Windsor. If you go to the NHTSA site they have all the listings of TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins) and Recalls. Make sure you have your VIN handy and if they say it has already been done, ask for a printed copy. That way if in doubt, you have proof. I believe that you can cross reference from the Mitsu dealerships and see if the recall was done on your rig.
Gord

I had mine done last summer- it stopped working (had to use pass. side female part) and I took a chance at the Dodge dealer in town-called 'em, asked if there had ever been recalls on gen. 1's (had a Camaro recalled for same thing in the late '80's) voila! Got lucky...

Thanks for the guidance.
The local stealer was able to confirm that the "belt latch gate " was replaced in Atlanta and was a mitsu recall.

Charlie K.

Just a couple of days ago a recall went out to practically every Japanese vehicle ever made. Mazda, Isuzu, Suzuki ect, for the same thing. I think Mits migth have made them all.
