...continuing from yesterday, the V-6 2 dr. tank is unique...it has 3 nipples (if I remember right) and is approx. 18 gallons...the yard shipped me the wrong tank at first (4 banger), then made good a couple weeks later...NOT interchangable...

Ted,
not much luck today at the yards around here. I think I found one that *might* be OK, but to tell you the truth, *might* be is not good enough for me when gas tanks are involved.
-----------------------------------
Phil: Its OK because I'm welding with a couple bails of hay between me and the gas tank. And to be on the really safe side, I'm going to wear my oversized styrofoam cowboy hat.

no gas tank for me. the one tank within 100 miles of mine was so rusty that the mechanic put his finger through the top of it. checked with all of the places listed on www.car-parts.com and only two of them actually have a tank there. one is in NC, the other is in NE. looks like i have to wait some more. thanks for everyone trying to help find me a gas tank. maybe one day i'll actually have one. the stripers are just starting to run on the beach, and i'm stuck with a damn car. How big is the hole in your tank? Can you clean it back to good metal? and cover it with a patch made out of metal? The reason that I ask is that I have access to an adhesive called 1422 b1/2 this is the adhesive that we use in the fuel tanks of aircraft it is damn good stuff and might just work as a stop gap measure. let me know if you are intrested and ill mail some to you
