My buddy had his F-100 slide into a ravine on New Years day. On Wednesday we went to recover it. He had told me it was about 30Æ off of the trail. Turns out it was 120Æ off of the trail, against a tree. Here are some photos. I threw in an IFS salute for good measure too.

That is one heck of a recovery! Did you have to anchor your rig? I know those F100's aren't light.

Absolutely I had to anchor it! Actually I had 2 anchor points to large trees (yes I used straps), and I also blocked and turned the wheels. This was so steep that when I was winching my truck lifted off of its suspension. It was a fun recovery. What I failed to mention in the earlier post is that the truck is still there on the trail. It had too many flat tires to drive it out of there so we have to go back next week to finish up.

Very impressive recovery!! And you pulled it out with flat tires to boot!!! That thing must have been dead weight...

It was very heavy, I had to rest the winch periodically to avoid overheating. I was wishing for one of Lloyds MileMarker Hydraulic winches. OK Lloyd I admit that you are right about Hydraulic winches in cases like this. :-)

Dang, that's a heck of a freighter to be yanking out at such an angle! Good work.
