Specialized Part Number Repository #196195 01/24/03 06:04 AM

I would like to suggest we start some form of a part number repository for items we have found that have a specific benefit above and beyond the 'mass merchandiser' stuff you would get at AutoZone, Pep Boys, or Advance Auto Parts.

We should keep it simple:
What it is
Part number
Manufacturer
Where to get it
Why it's better

Things like head gaskets, oil pump gaskets, shocks, oil filters, etc...this could be put into a spreadsheet or database for all to access.

I have some OEM numbers I will put in tomorrow.

Rob in Hell

PS: Any chance we could make this a 'sticky'? Seems I can't do that (there's no radio button)

2.5" Longer KYB Shocks for Gen I v6 Montero/Pajero/Raider
Front: KG5603a (only stock shock needed)
Rear: KG5483 ~2.5" longer (10/5/07: KYB changed part number to KG54320)

Notes:
(1) The longer rear shock was originally designed to fit the front suspension on an 87-92 Ford F-250 and the front of an 85-92 Ford F-350. If you prefer other shock brands such as Tokiko, Rancho, etc. you should be able to use the shocks they make for these trucks in your montero/pajero/raider as well.
(2) You will need to drive out one of the inner metal spacers on the rear shock in order to use it on a Montero.
(3) If you will be wheeling your Monty with the longer shocks, it is very highly recommended that you either reinforce your trailing arms as outlined in this 4x4wire technical article or replace the stock traling arms with Gen II trailing arms.

Oil Pump Gasket MD060521
Model: 2.6L Engine
Why? Reinforced at critical edge where cracking and loss of oil pressure could occur

Flexplate bolts MD952234 (6 reqÆd)
Model: 2.6L Engine
Why? Crankshaft vibration weakens bolt strength. Should be replaced in conjunction with torque convertor bolts if removed.
