[color:"red"]Update 08/29/02[/color] I've since learned that the SS20HF is the right snorkle for our gen I bodies but the connection tubes to the filter housing are not correct. NAPA Part numbers for some Mitsu parts. Some of these are not listed as Mitsu replacements but were cross-referenced by a nice parts guy in Peachtree City NAPA one slow afternoon.

Gen 1 2.6 (auto's & 5sp):- -front 5.29 MB185457 one unit left in ***an (no more production) my dealer maybe able to order it. -rear 5.29 MB241981 14 left ex stock in ***an.
Gen 1 3.0 V6 (auto's & 5sp):- -front 5.29 MB241981 14 left ex stock in ***an. -rear 5.29 MB598486 one unit in Oz, plenty ex stock in ***an.
Gen 2 3.0 V6 (auto's only) :- -front 5.29 MB831032 two units in Oz plenty ex stock in ***an. -rear 5.29 MB598486 one unit in Oz plenty ex stock in ***an.
And yes the MB241981 is the same part no for the 2.6 rear and the Gen 1 8" 3.0 V6 front.
For 4.90 gears to fit the Gen II 3.5 V6- (prices from Conicelli): -Front MR124860 - $375.23 -Rear MR124858 - $239.13 NOTE (29, March 2011): Discovered Conicelli Mitsubishi is no longer in business. For gears from Australia, contact Mr. Bishi. HeÆs stated before that for a small fee, heÆd purchase & ship gears.
For 4.88's in a Gen 1 V6, the 4.88's from the rear of a 4 cyl Gen I fits the front of the V6 Gen I, and the 4.88's for the rear of a 92-93 SR will fit the rear. The part numbers are -
Front 4.88 - MB527147 Lists about $370 from PAG auto Rear 4.88 - MB598487 Lists about $465 from PAG auto

You should also note how the old one is threaded through the holder. Here's what they look like pulled out of a couple different switches still in the rubber holder:
