it would almost have to be a leave friday, camp near Flagstaff, drive the rest of the way up in the early AM and then either go home late saturday or optionally camp on the rim of the canyon saturday night.

Whenever I go up to Utah or the north rim or really anywhere north of Flagstaff, that's how I do it - camp friday night near flagstaff (the "Ice Cave" has tons of great free camping opportunities nearby) - then camp Saturday wherever I happen to end up, then cruise home sunday evening

Thanks again Eric for opening your house up to all of us. Too bad that work gets in the way of staying out later than you should!
As far as the trailride EricD described above, that sounds like an excellent idea. My only concern would be, the weather, and when would be the perfect time of year to make such a run? Would June or July be best, or ??
As far as a trailride next month, I'm leaning towards the Sunflower Mine, its reasonably close, so if someone wanted to run the trail on Saturday, and not camp on Friday, they could. Its really scenic, with elevations up to 5500' or so, and there are a couple of excellent historical spots to check out. Check the Wells guide, and see what you think.
BTW, Patrick's perfect attendence record was broken... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" />

Don't worry Paul... on that plateau the weather's PLENTY hot!!! Don't let the 5500-6000 foot elevation fool you, that just puts you a mile closer to the sun

My only weekend off in May is taken up with a trip to Rocky Point, and I'm not even taking the Raider. I'm going in a car with three girls from work. Pity me. I have to work every other Saturday and only have Sunday, 5-18 off. Sooo, it looks like my attendance record falls off here. Make plans for a June trip and I'm in! As mentioned, I have a couple of ideas for the warm months that, although they put us closer to the sun at about 7000' elevation, there's shade too. Thanks again, OnSail, that was a good time. I especially liked the video, but now I have horsepower envy.

for sand, the amount of HP you need is in direct inverse proportion to how well you float <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

Actually the thing Monte3 is talking about sounds good too. We could camp, ride and be home by Sunday Morning. A "park and ride" if you will. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

Hey sorry couldn't make it guys i won't let you down next month. Well the swap is on hold cause lack of funds but here in another week or two it will be back up and going. Some things me and Automon have to to pass the time is..

1)
Put 1 flat 35 on the Mighty max and man the pickups have nowhere near as big wheel wells as the montero hehehe the tire is like smashed up in the well its pretty funny we were gonna swap the tiny ones over to the montero but the center hole on the rim is too small.

2)
Took rear shocks off montero jacked it up put doubled up ramps under one rear and one opposite front so it flexes out we're gonna keep beating at the bush to maybe get a bit more flex outta those old springs not sure how but hell we gotta do something right?.

3)
using hi-lift as a winch to drag the corolla up the drive way just for the hell of it, and pretty much what ever else we can find aswell. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" />

4)
More fun with tires hehhe lifted the corolla up and just shoved the maxes tire under there hehehe. ohh and can't forget we tried to lift the car off the ground by hand got close one tire came off the ground, we're gonna keep trying till we get all four off.

5)
used black marker to right Band names on the rear window of the Max, Next we're gonna right them on the body of the corolla.

For some reason, as I'm reading LT's post, once again the Styx song, "Too much time on my hands" is playing in my head!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="images/icons/shocked.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="images/icons/cool.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Drunk]" title="" src="graemlins/drunk.gif" />
