Vibration help with 1994 Montero LS #210898 06/07/03 12:11 AM

I get a roaring noise starting about 60 mpg to 70 mpg and then it seems to disappear. This is when the vibration start to kick in and I can see it shaking the mirrors slightly. I am thinking bent drive shaft ?? but I am not sure. I bought this Montero about a year ago so I am not sure about prior history. I can't see any markings on the drive shaft that would indicate damage.... any suggestions thanks Mike Cunningham

Need a Spot
Hello,
Try having the front wheels balanced. I would start with the simplest checks first.
Good Luck.

does it happen when you get to about 3100rpms and then as you let off the gas a little the roaring noise ceases and the rpms "settle" at 3000? is it anything like that?
if it happens when you hit 60 or 70 but goes away a few seconds later i think it would be transmission related...
does your tranny sometimes downshift at inappropriate times? like going up a hill?
