Well the trans is fine. The tow guy disconnected the linkage to tow it (no key).I found a mitsu leather booklet and has the history of the vehicle up to 120,000.Looks like it was taken care of till that point(except for that dealer screw-up at 60,000). The window sticker was in there to.On top of the sr model it also has these options-leather-burled wood accents-cd player-front suspension seats-adj.3way shock absorbers-air cond-cargo kit-cargo cover/mat/net-power sunroof.Total sticker price $30,445.Called a few motor shops they all want around 1,400 to 1,500 for a rebuilt 700 to 800 for labor.Is that about right?

I checked with my local stealer and they priced the bouncy mechanism out at $400+, times two for yours... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

at first i thought the whole idea was a bad one, but now with more info it seems better than before
i was quoted a price of about $2500 to replace the motor in a Gen 1 with blown head gaskets about six months ago in Virginia (so i think your in the ball park) ... the rig was on sale for $600, but i didn't go for it
had an '88 Montero, then an '04 Rubicon ... sold 'em tho
