It occurs to me that "best" is a relative term, so the best engine swap will vary by who you ask.

So for what it's worth, here's what I want from an engine swap..
A. Obviously, a substantial increase in power, but not more than any stock part of the vehicle can handle (tranny, diffs, etc.)
B. Easy Bolt-in install. Let' say a good way to put this would be "easily reversible". So gotta be toyota and no V8's.
C. Small or no subsequently required mods, ie: no IFS to SAS, no new gauges, no replacement or mod to any part that worked fine with the stock engine. No turbo for this reason, gas tank and ECU mods needed (I think). Exceptions would be swapping in the donors tranny, diff, etc. to handle the increased power, only if straight bolt-in.

My logic is that these limitations will keep things reliable and not require any more service than the original engine. Preferably less. The major swaps will invariably require seriously educated mods, tweaks and troubleshooting, which I can't handle. Mentally or financially.
So I'm thinking 7mge if the trannys bolt up and the elec mods are minor.
