For those in Ca, the law as I understand it is that if you swap a motor, it must be of the vehicle's year or later and must have all smog equipment that newer motor came with. You can't put a diesel in a non-diesel vehicle but you can go the other way as long as the smog stuff is on, etc.....

Even a built Supra motor, remember, had to pas emmissions in a car which have higher standards than a truck. So there is little chance unless it is not running correctly, that you'll have a problem passing emmissions.

After the swap, you can take it to a referee for cert.
