My 7MGTE makes close to 400ft/lbs of torque and 400hp. Stock motor. All I have done, is opened up the exhaust, and turned up the boost to 12 psi. In order to do either swap, 5.0 or 7MGTE, you have to build an exhaust, so the same mods would be performed on both motors.

At 7 psi, they do 230 ft/lbs of torque and 254 ft/lbs of torque out of a dinky little 3.0. That is 2 liters smaller than a 5.0, and lighter for that matter.

The 2JZ which is the next generation 7M, does 320 hp and 315 ft/lbs of torque.....stock boost, stock exhaust.

So, yes, I am saying that the 7M has more power than your 5.0 v8.

It is better to make torque at high rpm than at low rpm, because you can take advtage of gearing.
