I have a 99. 31" tires, I believe that means 4.56 with the manual tranny. It has plenty of power, including at the low end. I like the ride off road, especially at speed. It's a little long for tight spots. I was thinking of lifting it a little or putting larger tires on it, but that would mess up the handling. I'm lifting and locking up my old 85 4runner instead...
