i have an 85 front axle that i want to eventually put a hypinion fj80 elocked 3rd in. I have a Tacoma Elocker right now. Can i put the Tacoma locker in the front now, and eventually swap it out down the road? or do the housing modifications prevent this?

Mike, I'm pretty sure both 3rd's have the same bolt pattern and require the same mod to your housing.

No, I believe the bolt patterns are slightly different. Karl Bellve could give you the details.

Body Damage is Cool
Mike, I want to put a hi-pinion fj80 front 3rd w/locker in my 85 axle as well. I was reading (maybe on Karl Bellve's website) that the bolt pattern is different than the trd elocker.

Hey, how about we do the mods together. I just have to drop about $700 for the fj80 locker first...

yea..the reason is i have a regular e-locker right now, and will just weld up the rear, and run the regular locker up front.

Then, when i can afford the fj80 and matching gears, i can just chuck the rear third, move front to back, pop in the fj80 and be good to go.if its not possible, i'll just keep it stock and open for now, but it would be nice :-)

I'm bringing my axle and a select few tools with me back to school so i can rebuild the axle and ugrade it in my free time.
