If you look at Michael J. Wood's website, you'll see at the back of the block it has a "dual" bolt pattern. The inside pattern is the GM 60 degree one.

Yep, Greg -- I see it:

Despite Bruce's prodding, I will remain skeptical about this until I see it actually installed and running. That Isuzu would twin-pattern the back of their motor continues to amaze me -- that's an additional production process that takes tooling and time, and OEMs fight hard to minimize that, generally with little consideration given to cross-applicability in the uncertain future.

Heck, I'd love to be proven wrong on this issue (gotta be specific, because I am wrong pretty regularly about other things, too ), but I want PROOF.
When (and if) I see a running example disproving my supposition, I will sit down in front of the world and eat my fair share of crow...

Gentlemen, start your wrenchin's

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hi Randii,
When I first posted this question some time back, I wasn't sure. Now however, I AM sure as I've taken my Dakota bell down to the boneyard and physically fit it to the back of a 3.2L SOHC Isuzu V6. This I have seen with my own eyes (I'm pointing to my eyeballs now ) Will the bellhousing clear the starter? Don't know. Will it clear the exhaust manifolds? Don't know. Will it clear the flywheel? Don't know that either. I just know that both the Chevy 60 degree V6 bell and the Dakota bell bolt to the back of the Isuzu V6. As to why there's a dual bolt pattern? Don't know that either. Could be that the outer one is used by the Isuzu stick bellhousing in other applications in other countries while the inner one is used to bolt it up to the GM 4L30E autobox.

I'm just guessing. Anywho, I don't know why it is.. it just is... So, if you're a bettin' man, how about we put up a six pack of Heineken. I'm bettin' the 60 degree V6 bellhousing bolts right up to a SOHC and DOHC Isuzu V6 block. What'cha say?

::waves white flag::
That's the final piece, Greg. I give. :p

Those of you who show up to Moab 'Zu Zoo VII next year may witness me eating several delicacies... first, my hat, followed by a helping of crow, then topped off with a slice of humble pie!

Greg said it best: "I don't know why it is.. it just is..."

I owe Greg that sixer... payable on demand, but we gotta get together to do it, because I fully intend to help drain those bottles.
