Oh yeah, about the installation, here is what I found which to me indicates that shifter engages the internal linkage with a different pivot point. So, I guess when I make the swap I won't have to move the shifter from the dashboard to the back seat for a 1-2 gear shift ;-)

One interesting point made in the article is the reference to the T5Æs notoriously weak shift forks, and with the addition of an aftermarket shifter it provides you with adjustable shifter stops. I donÆt think that the stock shifter has this, so another plus for making the swap.
