Previous owner did recall at 156k miles, i suspect the HG went bad and it wasnt just the recall done because it was a woman, and no offense to the ladies here, but most dont strike me as the type to do or care about maintenance like that. Also because from what the auto place tells me, my truck was beat to hell when he got it, and damn near replaced all the body panels, bumpers, inner door panels, etc...

I had mine replaced in 95, not because it blew or anything. Just cuz I could. No problems with 150K miles on it! Chris

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Good poll! I don't know if mine has been replaced. I bought mine with 185k on it from a friend, that I know didn't replace it. I'm the 3rd owner and now have 250,3xx miles on her and she starts up everytime. Did the timing belt/water pump at 240k and the cam seals looked great when I was in there.
I'll have to call Toyota with the VIN to see if it was done. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

I had a 92 PU before I bought my 96 Runner. The previous owner replace the head gaskets and then about a year after I bought it I had to replace them again. At least Toyota went half on the price of the second replacement. The gaskets burnt up so bad that I had to get my engine rebuilt. Very costly and I have tried to stay away from that engine ever since. i don't think I have ever ahd so many problems out of one engine, especially not a Toyota.

My V6 is on it's 2nd replacement short block as a result of blown hg's. Inside Toyota sources said any hg replaced prior to 1998 were going to have problems again.
