Dan,<BR>I dont agree..... did you see that in a 4 runner service manual? i havent done an alignment in a few years but i have worked on a few different machines and i have never seen any car or any write up on that ....im not saying its wrong i just dont agree with you ......but like you said get it done right ...we are only here for advice!!

I had the same problem on my '98 4Runner. I took it into the Toyota Dealer where it was purchased and asked them to fix it under warranty. Of course, they didn't see the problem. <P>The second test drive was with the service manager and I asked him to "straighten" the wheel while parked. Once it was "straight" I told him to start driving...hmmmm...we didn't go straight. <P>They fixed it at no cost to me...

On my old Toyota truck I simply parked, pointed the wheels until they were straight, removed the steering wheel, rotated it until it was even, then put it back on so it was aligned correctly. [img]images/icons/wink.gif" border="0[/img]<P>It worked fine. However, I concur with the others that this is not the best way to solve the problem. Especially if you have an airbag!<P>I'd get the alignment and have it done correctly. That way you know the whole steering system is correct.<P>Todd
