So I set out at 3 AM, got there at 8, left at 12, got home at 5 PM. Fell asleep until 9 AM the next morning. I did the reinstall, put everything back together and started filling the tranny with ATF. Oops, the drain plug wasn't all the way in. I ended up over tightening it and stripped the pan. Called the local dealer and got one the next morning. Put that on, shifted, filled with ATF, none of the gears engaged. Called Pat at Level 10 and he solved my problem. Put the valve body back, then the pan, filled up again, now I'm done. I must've taken the valve body off like 4 times.
All in all, it was well worth the upgrade. Now I can probably do the whole job in an hour. It's possible to do it all yourself but you better have strong triceps. Mine got tired as hell after holding the valve body up so I could hold the springs in. I held up the driver's side, screwed some bolts in enough so I could squeeze in the ball pin spring. Then everything else went fine. When lowering the valve body I found it helpful to use the jack to keep one end up so I could unscrew the bolts on the other end. Like everyone else has said, it's definitely a must have mod if you have the S/C.

I definitely think it was worth it. I like the harder shifts. I didn't think I would but I do now. I'm glad I tried doing it myself. Now it feels a lot different. I'm going to have to keep myself from gunning it all the time since I haven't done the fuel mods yet. And yes Chad I'll be there on the 9th.

congrats allan - seems like everyone has some sort of horror story to tell (i busted some manifold bolts putting the s/c on in the first place). all the problems seem to work out in the end, though.
i did mine too, and am very glad i did. it sure was scary, though, what with all the fluid running down my arm and springs popping out everywhere! it is so so so worth it, though. best $640 i ever spent!
ANYONE ELSE considering this upgrade should get it sent off by next week (feb 1) to save $100!

creed
