I just got of the phone with a muffler shop. I've been pricing Flowmasters (40/50 series). Then I get this one guy on the phone who has owned his own shop for 30 years, and still works there. I told him I had the 3.4 liter V6, and he said "You don't want a Flowmaster". He told me about the "Turbo Muffler" that was used in the Toyota 4Runners that had the turbo's (1987?). He said that the old turbo muffler (made by Giddon) was the best thing to put on because you still gain horse power, but don't lose any torque. Anyone know anything about this? Had my mind set on the ole Flowmaster until this guy told me about the turbo muffler. Bastage.

Any info would be appreciated.

Have you thought about a Magnaflow?
I have been runnering one for a few years now, as well as a few others.

Very good muffler and stock sound at idle
Once you gas it, the sound of it kicks in.

If you want to hear it, try these vids below.

You can click this one, it's setup on its onw page.

PS, I just noticed on my son's PC with IE 6 the embedded flicks won't play.
I hate IE 6, and will never put it on my PC. I like 5.5.

Here are the vids if you are having trouble with the above embedtations

I willing to try anything, as long as it is better than the stock, and increases HP, Don't want to lose an torque though. I'm all for nice mellow tone.

I've tried a Magnaflow, Flowmaster 50 and a Dynomax Super Turbo on my 3.4 4Runner. I can tell you that the Magnaflow is the loudest, then the Flowmaster 50 and the Dynomax is by far the quitest. As far as performance, I would say the Dynomax performed a little better, it does seem to have more torque than the Flowmaster. I have the Dynomax Super Turbo on my 2000 4Runner and like the sound and performance. They all sounded the same but the Dynomax sound level is between stock and the Magnaflow. I ended up installing a Monza restonated exhaust tip to quiet it even more. It now is just slightly louder than stock, it has a nice mellow growl.

I also have the Vortex, and love it. Decently loud on the outside and inside isn't to bad.

Randy,

Thanks for the report. The Dynamax is exactly what I'm looking for.
