I do have a friend (BlueDodge) that surprisingly has had VERY good luck with one of those small (18"?) antennas stuck on the window. It miraculously sends the signal through the window without drilling any holes and tested great with an SWR meter. As was mentioned above, his isn't mounted on a window with metal tinting on it.

It doesn't have the range of a tall whip attena, but it took like 2 minutes to install, doesn't look bad at all, and is really clear with in a decent range. When you get a lot of trees and hills, the range shortens quite a bit but, I seem to have just as good of luck as some of the body grounded attenas. It also doesn't maim people.

Blue Dodge,

What is the brand/model? On what window do you have it mounted?

Hi Alan,

I am using a no-ground-plane style. I run the cable up through the back door on the passenger side. I only put the antenna on when I am traveling with a group that uses cb's. To mount it to the bar I got an L-style antenna bracket at Radio Shack and use wing nuts so that I can remove it quickly. I am not too worried about the cable routing to the back door because I have removed the back seats (no passengers to worry about).

If I was were going to do it again, I would do the same setup that Corey did or the one that notrub did. They both look great and are easy to deal with. Having it on the roof will help reception, it is a pain to get the wires there.

Sport:)

Thanks Sportrunner & Corey

Looks like the fender mount is the first thing to try. If I put something on the roof, I can just see myself driving into my garage and messing something up. Its a pretty low door so even with a spring mount, somethings going to get marked up if I forget and leave an antenna up there.

I have an idea for a "stealth" fender mount, but need to try some things to see if its viable or not. All I need is some time to finish lots of other things I have to do and would like to do.
