I'm looking for a Toyota alternator that will bolt-on the '85 4Runner. Needs to be an OEM part, hopefully 80-90amp. Is there such a part??

They can rewind it for you to make about 90 to 120 amps. It shouldn't cost much more than about $150. Much cheaper than the aftermarket Toyota alternators such as from Downey and NWOR, which are the exact same thing.

Good luck.

Thanks Brian. Somebody else put me onto a place called Alterstart. They've got a 135amp for $179. I'll check the local places too.

So far I got nothing. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" /> Found one place that has a 135amp for $179 which isn't bad but no OEM app yet.

what do you mean OEM app?? toyota never made a bolt in alternator with that much amperage for our trucks. to bo honest, alterstart or a local alt shop are your only choices for a bolt in application.

I'm sure they used the same style alt. on many vehicles.

Mean Green makes one (I think 140A) for the 4Runner that they say is bolt-in. I haven't found it on any of the websites yet.

if toyota made a higher amp alt that will bolt up to the 22RE, i'm sure we'd know about it.
