What brand of cat-back system do you reccomend? I was looking at a TFX or Gibson...TFX seemed more resonable in price...what about headers also...I only found them for the 89 2.5L from Clifford and Borla..but Borla was rediculously priced and didnt seem to deliver much power...Clifford seemed to be very high in performance but still a bit high in price...any ideas...or should I expect to pay a good amount for headers? Thanks

Well, even though Borla's cost more they have a solid customer service and warranty. I've had to use it a few times. If you can't aford a Borla then I might look at Banks, Gibson or some other company. I had a bad muffler and Borla sent me a new muffler in a few day's with no questions asked. It's worth it. Not only that but it also made power that was noticable. I'd besure to get stainless steel and mandral bends. 2.25"-2.5" seems to be the norm. 2.25" is what Borla uses, I believe.

Granted, pepping a 4 pop can't hurt, but gearing the diffs to 4.56:1 or 4.88:1 will do wonders for performance.

With correct gearing a lawnmower engine could out pull a 2.5 with the wrong gearing.

What gearing did the stock 89's come with?

if you think 32s and stock gearing is bad try 34s and stock on a 2.5l you can also use the neuspeed intake from any vw with the vr6 enigine thats what i have on mine.

if you regear you may want to be careful of that rear axle, dont go too steep with the 35 TFX's prices are good but you get what you pay for.
