You mentioned that the old oil looked like Pepsi. What color was the new oil? Could you tell if your original oil was significantly dirty?

I am moving to Virginia this Friday and am planning on changing the oil. Also, do I need to get a fresh drain plug, or a crush washer? I don't want to not have all the parts I need on hand before draining.
