I have made it to the top of Devil's Ditch; it is one fun hill climb. I was thinking about getting a few of the more modified people from the EC4RJ and going to Madison, so I guess you are in. Madison is real fun in the snow too!

So is Madison a legal public trail?

And how far would it be from Harrisonburg?

Sounds cool, I need some new dents. <img border="0" alt="[Drunk]" title="" src="graemlins/drunk.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Fro]" title="" src="graemlins/rainfro.gif" />

Kasper where does devil ditch go? We did not attempt it besides Thortons almost flop at the top of the bypass because it was 5 in the afternoon and I am a big puss! I feel I can make it with some finesse driving and proper rock placement(shit did I just say that, darn rockstacker). Even if I get too out of whack I could always break out the highlift and straps, plenty of trees to latch on to(a winch would be sooo nice).
walking it was a pain big time and after getting to the top we walked about 100yards and stil no idea where the trail would take us. So we called it quits for the day, I can't wait to get back there!

Joe pick a date! I may try and get up there this weekend supposed to be chilly but nice and sunny. On a serious note and thinking forward to the EC4RJ I would not want to take but so many trucks "way up" there at one time 5-8 trucks tops, but that is just my opinion. Chad

Joe- Let me know what weekend you want to come up, maybe mid april or so may work. We went and camped this weekend at GWNF, I took some topo maps along and tried to get into the quarry area near reddish knob, but everything was gated off. Any tank traps we crossed also went nowhere, so no luck. We camped at the loop trails, by the creek, found/reopened some hard stuff there that are harder. One hill climb will be fun, its rocky and challenging (like a dictums without the bank on the side) but we will need a chainsaw to remove fallen trees. We just stayed the day, and went to Madison in the morning.

notrub- From what I understand the trail comes to a locked gate at the top, both times I have went things kept me off the hill. Snow the 1st and this time the rain and enough damage without going up there, maybe next time.

Curt- Take 33 towards Richmond from Harrisonburg to Standardsville, into I believe its 33 business, will be a sign for dairy queen & amoco (they just changed this road it used to be the actual 33 before they redid the road, might still show on maps), take a left on 230, go a few miles (not sure of how many) and take a left on middle river road. Follow this all the way to the end, it will turn into dirt/gravel road, there is a bridge to cross to the right do not take bridge, stay straight. Follow to end, trail crosses creek to the left a bolder partially blocks the trail.
