You might get a high-pitched noise when the wear-indicator reaches the rotor, as in "go buy more pads". But usually, this noise is heard without breaking, and goes away when the pedal is depressed.

oh, I just read your post again, you're talking about that creaking noise literally near the pedal? As you push it?

That could be coming from your master cylinder seals, maybe. Hopefully someone else knows, just keep an eye on the fluid level til you find out.
