IPF SuperRally Lights: Anyone Have These? #294481 07/30/03 10:36 AM

I'm contemplating mounting a set of lights to the Monty, and was curious if anyone has a set of the IPF SuperRally 960 (or 930, or anything else made by IPF) lights and what they thought of the construction quality, brightness , ease of installation and whatever. Do you have the brushed aluminum ,110w units - or the black, 85w units?
Very gracias unto you!

Body Damage is Cool
Go for the big 110w/170w dual beam IPF's (don't know the type) they will be the only lights you'll ever need. They have standard H4 bulbs for Hi and Low beam.

Liquidium,
I've got the IPF Super Rally 960B 85W on order. They should be here in a couple of weeks with my brake rotors. I'll letcha know how they look/work/look! I went with the IPFs because of their construction quality, brightness, ease of installation, and whatever!

Yeah, those (the 930s) are about $500 plus. Probably worth it. Still, my list of future mods is way long, and I believe the 960s should do the trick. Smaller in diameter, too. I think they usually go for about $250 - for this, a relay, harness, and remote switch are all included. I'd love to add the 930s to my sig, though, if the price was sweet enough.

960B? I'm curious -does the "B" stand for black? Damaged minds want to know! Would grovelling increase the chance of getting you to kick down a pic or ten of your shiny new units when they arrive? At any rate, I'll be anxiously awaiting your report.

Liquidium,

You may also want to consider Hella lamps.

I've run hella's in a plastic case for years now (5?) without any problems whatsover and I'd say I wheel probably more than the average person on this forum. Not an obscene amount but certainly quite a bit.

If I ever need to go to a metal case, I'll probably upgrade to the Hella 4000's which I can easily find for under $200/pair on ebay or $250 online for a kit(4by4connection.com). Plus I can buy them in whatever beam pattern I desire. (Fog, Euro beam, Pencil, Cornering)

Just an option to consider. Oh, you can also purchase them with a pretty chrome housing if you desire but that's only available in a Fog or Euro Beam pattern.

Not knocking IPF, but I'd like to know what I'm paying extra for with their lights?

Yes. "B" stands for black.

EDIT: I only paid $250 for IPF Super Rally 960B kit. Be American - buy Aussie!

The ARB catalog mentions that the 930s are for racing use only - the high beams produce so much heat that higher vehicle speeds (and the resulting wind) are needed to keep them cool.

Before I posted this, I asked ARB to clarify a little on the difference between the black and brushed aluminum 960 lights. ARB's reply:

"the black super rally comes with a 55 watt cobalt blue bulb with the output
of a 85watt. the other model comes with a clear 110 watt bulb. in the near
furure all the 960 super rally lamps will come with a 110watt bulb as it
does have better range, 65000cd..."
regards buddy
