Seems like a good idea for newbies like me is to go out and practice some time. Preferably with a buddy. Otherwise, maybe try to find a spot that's "stuck one way" but that I can get out the opposite way.
I'm sure it's like climbing, or caving (Lloyd), or anything else for that matter. Better to practice rescue techniques in a controlled environment before you actually need them in the field... Exactly. Playing with different scenarios might not be a bad idea, either. As soon as my equipment is rigged the way I want it, I'm taking it to a steep hill (pics of it in my "pipelines" post) to see if I can winch it up. You never know when you'll find yourself cruising hilly terrain that is normally not a problem - and then it starts pouring rain halfway into the trip. I think it seems like fun. I'm actually looking forward to it.

Exactly. This happens quite frequently if you rock crawl like many of us do. I don't recall you ever mentioning the type of wheeling you do?

Gee Ray, were you thinking back 2 your 1.5hr episode on Cliff Hanger? But, yes, there is high centered on a little rock, then theres, built rig in huge boulders, off line, and hopelessly mired. Thats something I never do though, because I am such a good driver!

Gee Ray, were you thinking back 2 your 1.5hr episode on Cliff Hanger? It was cool... wasn't it?!?! And that cliff side where I had to go up a 4' ledge!! Wow, that was something else. Nothing like that to keep the pucker factor going!! But, yes, there is high centered on a little rock, then theres, built rig in huge boulders, off line, and hopelessly mired. Another fun filled trail!! Thats something I never do though, because I am such a good driver! Not sure that it has as much to do with that as it has to do with having a winch
