How much will OME lift a 2001 4Runner? #29693 03/21/02 09:25 PM

I am interested in getting Old Man Emu (OME) (by ARB) springs and shocks on my 2001 4Runner. OME sources say that the lift is only 20mm (~3/4"), but a couple of re-sellers, and other reliable sources, tell me it's really 1 3/4" to 2".

One explanation I was given for the discrepancy was that OME designed these for an Australian Toyota vehicle (Preto?) that is heavier than the 4Runners; and that, for that vehicle, the kit only lifts 20mm. But since 4Runners are lighter, you can expect the larger amount.

I found a post on the web where a guy said he had a 1996 4Runner that he installed the OME kit on, and he only got a 1" lift. I have been told that this might be true -- that the stock springs on the 1996 era 4Runners are longer than those on the more recent 4Runners (2000, 2001, etc.). So while this guy may indeed have only experienced a 1" lift, it's only because he had relatively long springs to begin with, and I could still expect a 1 3/4" to 2" lift if I installed these on my 2001.

Can anyone confirm this information? And has anyone actually had experience with an OME kit on a 2001-era 4Runner who could share his or her experience with me? Thanks!

Mike

All your answers can be found on the SUV forum next door:

This is the hardcore forum here more geared for older Toy's.
The topic has been discussed in great detail over there, just try the search feature and plug in lifts, OME, and you will get more info than you can read

First, welcome to the list. Now, perform a search and you will learn more than you ever wanted to know about this lift. Also you should post this over in the SUV section as that is where those who can answer your question hang out.

Beware, if you catch the wheeling or mod bug your truck will take all of your $$$. You have been warned. Continue at your own risk
