BLM is charging fee to 4 OHV area including Johnson Valley. If Allpro have the Jambo there next yr, it's gonna cost us now.

That's a bummer but not surprising. My per semester fees went from 900 to 1250 a semester over the summer. I'm sure the state is going to pull out cash anywhere it can.

Hey I am willing to pay a use fee for that place, totally worth it. As long as that fee can guarantee that it will stay open to 4wheelers, I have no issues. Nowadays, you gotta pay to play.

My first instinct is to agree. When we produce revenue for using an area it would seem the Man would be less likely to close it and shut off the tap. I know its controversial, and it seems like most OHV folks oppose it (BlueRibbon, etc.). I guess I need to learn why, really.

The way the green sticker program for California is setup, those fees are alleged to keep these areas open for OHV's. Your taxes go to keeping the BLM running. The BLM is a steward for the land and now they "need to" charge more fees due to the monies from the taxes being misdirected/heldback from the intended uses.
I wonder where the money is really going. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

This is my understanding of all this, greatly condensed, and I may be factually wrong about it all! Don't quote me!

The state needs to get its finances in order. Right now it is in a state of total chaos. Like I said, you think it's bad wheelers are paying 35 bucks to play, students, who are notoriously less wealthy than most, are paying 350$ more a semester in state schools.

It seems to me these fee increases are across the board politically. Therefore, I suspect it's more of a money problem than an environmental or democrat Vs. republican thing. Just no dough to pay for stuff right now. If and when things turn around, would be a good time to raise a stink about it me thinks.

Frank.
