Rubo is right, the perceived change would probably be minimal and even a loss of low end torque. Tthere is little excuse to not run a cat. Contrary to what your friendly dealer might say, you do not have to replace a cat with an factory OEM piece. Places like, www.discountconverter.com have universal cats for about $60 and high flow cats for ~$100. Good Luck, Michael

You can always call Matt Indy4x . He got hight flow cats for $69.99 (i know you could probably find a better deal, but i personaly like dealing with him). rubo

I don't know how much better than $70 you are going to get. I think when I asked a local shop they quoted over $150 for a 2.5" high flow cat <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" />. Discount Converter was around $95, and I was never quite sure what I was getting. I figured since Matt only offers one, it must be good for all.
I just ordered mine last week, so hopefully it gets here soon. The troop needs a little TLC before I drive it out to DC.

But the only way for you to find out is get someone to build a test Pipe, in other words a piece of pipe with Cat Flanges. And Find out for your self and use it when you go off-road and put Cat back on when you go back on Road. Disclaimer: all information is from personal experience your results my be different. P.S. I just bypassed/removed mine in an attempt to fix an overheating problem. And it runs significantly better. All around. BUT, I know that it was in very bad shape. I plan on replacing it when emission time rolls around. What kind of cat does Matt sell? Manufacturer?

I am holding the Catco I just got from Matt. It's all of 10" long (not counting the pipe on the ends, which make it about 14" long). It is a Catco 6006, which has the 2.5" pipe. If you need a different diameter, check out Discount Converters in the 6000 series. They sell the entire Catco line, in fact they sell them very cheap. The quality looks good, though I don't really know enough to say that for sure. The welds look nice, and the stock used is heavy duty. Tomorrow is truck day. I get a new windshield, and I'm going to finish installing my PIAA's and a new speedo cable. Then I get the cat and my PV2 muffler installed, so we shall see... should be fun. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
