Wiring the universal should be a sinch, cant be much different then wiring a 3-way switch if I need to go that route...

Yep, the connectors are crap. I was getting a very intermittent P0140 on the rear O2 sensor. The definition of that code is no response from O2 sensor. But the code would reset and not come back for a month or so. O2 sensors don't open up and then work. So I figured it had to be the wiring. I bypassed the connector to the O2 sensor and "hardwired" it right to the ECM. Problem fixed and hasn't come back.
