Or do you think it would more than likly be the gas cap deal. I know I should have the cell checked but I just never find the time to do so. How long does the code stay in the computer again? I now you said it before. The code more or less stays in the computer forever until it's either reset with a scan tool or the battery is disconnected. The CEL stays on only as long as the fault is actively occuring or if the problem is intermittent it may go off after several engine start/stop cycles. Just because you get a CEL doesn't automatically mean it's the gas cap.
