...rear lost traction and gained back...

Didn't he say he had a font and rear tire down? Maybe the center diff hadn't actually locked initially, then did while the front was spinning...

ActivTrac... does this mean AWD with a Center Diff?

Yes- the ActivTrac offers full time four wheel drive and part time (c/d locked) four wheel drive, although I'm not sure if it can truly be called AWD - I think some AWD systems use electronic sensors to divert power to the axle w/ the most traction, but are incapable of powering both axles simultaneously. I'm still a little muddy on that, though.

If so maybe the "Clank" was the center diff adjusting more bias to the rear?

Good hypo, but it doesn't apply here. I'd locked the center about 300 yards back and locked the rear just before dropping into the creek. The c/d light was no longer flashing, and my vehicle was behaving as it always does w/ the center locked.

There is NO factory LSD in the front. If it does have it, someone installed it after they purchased it. I'm betting on open diff. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I'm not sure. The previous owners' house on the golf course, three car garage lifestyle tells me they weren't wheeling types, though - although most assume I don't ride either. Surely someone wouldn't have done a Starion swap?

I think at that particular moment both rears were planted, and only my driver front was floating. It's still moot because the c/d, as well as the rear diff, were locked solidly before I even dropped into the creek. Besides, the center diff has stubbornly refused to engage under load every time I've tried to do so.

I will but it could take some time. Both of my bottle jacks are too short to lift the tires by themselves, and I'll have to cut up some wood or something.

Easy explanation... Most people think of time as linear, however itÆs not. What probably happened was a wrinkle in the space time continuem has caused a either a front locker or front LSD to appear in the front diff while wheeling.

Lloyd was the first to have this happen while wheeling in Arizona but was hushed up by big guys in dark suits wearing wrap around sunglasses and driving black GMC's with dark tinted windows.

This only happens because in the future you do actual install a front locker (or LSD)... Only then can it appear in what seems to be the present but to the locker appears to be the past.

What is time anyway?

"Natures way of keeping everything from happening at once." I read a really interesting artilc in National Geographic while I was visiting my dad at the hospital. I was so intruiged by that article that I stold the magazine and recently re-read the article. That line was in the article.

A little OT but if you ask me its a very worth question.

If you have two factory jacks... that is more than enough to lift both tires. Just place the jacks under the a-arms... and lift off the arms, not the frame.

I have the same jack, well I think it is the same but I never checked pn#'s between the years, and I have no problem using it with 33 inch tires.
