Didn't he say he had a font and rear tire down? Maybe the center diff hadn't actually locked initially, then did while the front was spinning...


I think at that particular moment both rears were planted, and only my driver front was floating. It's still moot because the c/d, as well as the rear diff, were locked solidly before I even dropped into the creek. Besides, the center diff has stubbornly refused to engage under load every time I've tried to do so.
