Body Damage is Cool
On the Toy E-locker, 4:30 ring gear, will the 4Cyl 4:88's fit? Are these 8" diffs interchangeable as far as the ring and pinions go?
Would it b better to adapt the whole axle assembly to my 85 4Runner instead, just changing R&P's? If I just used the whole axle assembly, are the 4:88's available for these?
How do I identify the axle to tell what it came out of?

I am getting an E-locker for an incredible deal$ that I would be nutz to refuse. I want to use my R&P that I just had setup.

TIA
Danny

If I'm not mistaken, I think that the E-Lockers utilize V6 gears. Where is that ErikB kid when you need him?

P.S. What's up rock stacker man?

The install kit I just received for regearing my '98 4Runner e-diff has the same part number as one for the standard V6 diff. The 4.56s out of my V6 third will bolt right into the 4Runner e-third.

Just ante up the coin for some V6 4.88s you knuckle head.

OH! I forgot. Your funds are going into a paint job and body work for the GomezRunnr.

Well, looks like I'll need to get some v-6 gears, eh? Stronger is better in my book.
Now the decision is which end to put the e-locker in, front or rear. Right now the rig has an LSD of some type in the front and an EZ-Locker in the rear. Maybe the e-locker in the front and the EZ can stay in the back. Any one want to buy an LSD type diff, new 4:88 gears (not too many miles on it at all)and bearings, 4 cylinder thingy
Maybe with the leftover $$, I can Krylon my rig for Uncle Jim

If it be up to me, I'd go with the electric up front. That way you'll get a full locker up front with the ability to switch it off when desired (Ideal for when your EZ out back grenades and you need to drive home on the front diffy )

I don't know how tight the LSD is, but being able to turn off the locker up front may ease turning too, don't ya' know.

Now that you've got that stylin' Tercel, you can turn your green thang into a trailer queen

Just to play devil's advocate, I would do the opposite and keep the LSD up front and put the e-locker in the back. Then you don't have to deal with that EZ locker on the street.

So Jim, when are you coming over to fix my truck? It still makes that aweful noise when shifting above 4,000 rpms.

Boy, that's a tough call but dual lockers would be pretty cool. If the EZ doesn't bother you on the street put the Elock in the front. You don't have sway bars anyway so driveability doesn't seem really high on the list. Maybe you could find another elock down the road for the back? Or better yet, an ARB.

If you put the elock in back you could put the EZ in front if you still have the carrier. I wouldn't want to drive that way off road though. I've driven vehicles with front lockers only. So then what? elock in back and TT up front? what does that get you except work and money out the door.

I think that I will put that bad boy up front to use as needed. I will then still be able to hear the Larsmobile doing its little pppssstt thingy.
Jim,
The 4Runner used to b green, now it is almost all grey And as far as the trailer thing, the Terdcel won't be up to task there.
Thanks for all the replies, ya''ll.

I think Uncle Jim is right. Put the elocker up front. Having dual lockers and being able to turn the front on and off would be very cool.

Sell the LSD to Ron. He wanted 4.88 gears and with the LSD he'd be half way there.
