How did the wiring kit work out from inchworm? Was it easy to install? what did it included? any hang-ups?

It worked out pretty good, the instructions aren't the best or maybe I'm just a dufus. Fairly easy to install, but time consuming-about 4 hours for just the wiring. It included all wiring, zip ties, switch, light, resistor, shrink wrap, basically everything you need. No hang ups so far, it all works great. Well, except for the fact that e-brake cable is extremely tight, it was actually dragging for a little while. I made a small adjustment by the brake handle to loosen it, but its still extremely tight-no dragging though. This has nothing to do with the wiring though.

I wired up my e-locker on the bench this weekend it worked the first try! I must have engaged and disengaged the thing 30 times over the last few days just to see it operate. It's a slick unit. I salvaged some connectors from a wiring harness off a Honda XL600 to illuminate the RRDiffLock swith. The only wiring reminaing is dash illuminattion when the locker is engaged (I got the directions from Phong but haven't fiddled with the dash yet).

How hard is it to find an e-locker at a junk yard?

Fairly tough, I got really lucky and found mine 15 minutes away!

Here's an overview of installing an ARB up front. If you're considering it, I'd be happy to provide whatever info you need to get it done. ARB's instructions explain the ideal way to do it, but if things go wrong there are some details to setting up the diff which are useful.

Thanks for the awesome write-up. I already have it printed out in full color and it's resting right next to the front diff. I especially appreciate the tips on what spare parts to have on hand (eg bearings).

Have a peak at my web page at www.larsdennert.com/4runner/arb for a couple more notes on how not to goof it up. Also ARB's instructions don't actually explain how to setup the diff. They only explain how to keep your existing setup (ie backlash and preload) If things go haywire I can give you instructions on how to set it up from scratch. It's a bit different than the average diff since its a clamshell.
