my 4x4 engaged light indicator doesn't comeon when I shift into either 4x4 HI or 4x4 LO. I am suspecting the wire that might have come lose underneath. Where should I look? Any suggestions?

Thank you.

w.

sounds like a good excuse to put manual hubs on.

i looked into this, and it costs ~$1500 to put manual hubs on a 3rd gen... i actually had the same problem with my 4wheel indicator light, and luckily the $tealer fixed it under warranty. they said that it was the electronic actuator the engaged the 4-wheel drive that had failed. they replaced it, and it all works fine now. good luck,

wally

well then, put an axle under it, it'll probably come with a pair of manual hubs <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/coolg.gif" alt="" />

otherwise I'd put it in 4wd, and trace the wires with a test light to try and narrow down where the problem is. I'd also check the vaccuum lines for leaks.

Does the 4wd still work and the light just not illuminate?

thank you all...

yes, the 4x4 works fine,m it was just the light indicator
yes, it was only the wire right where it jojns the switch, on top of the transfer case (tough spot to play in)
I have the manual hubs..:)
