I wrote to Toyota through the official website and here is their reply concerning the length of the warranty. It is interesting to note that they might be willing to reimburse part of the cost for replacement.

"The warranty coverage for the seat belts is 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first from the vehicleÆs date of first use. Once the vehicle is outside of these warranty guidelines the cost of repairs becomes the ownerÆs responsibility.

However, in the interest of Customer Satisfaction we are willing to review your costs for possible assistance with the repair costs your incurr to replace your safety retraints. Please provide us with the following:

Copy of the Repair Order indicating repairs performed by a Toyota dealer utilizing Toyota replacement parts.
Proof of payment for the repairs.
Copy of current registration or vehicle title
You may fax the above listed items to fax # 310-381-7599 in reference to your case # 200309050481 or your may mail them to us at:

One of the guys on the t4x4pickup.com discussion group came up with a step by step set of instructions with picts. to increase the tension on the belts. If anyone wants it I can email it.

Body Damage is Cool

I purchased the 6yr/100k mile extended when I bought my truck... It expires later this month, so I decided to send my truck in for one last go-around with the stealership while still under warranty. They're replacing the seatbelts again for free (2nd time), without too much *****. I don't get why you guys have gotten so much flak. Is the big difference that I still have it as a warranty item? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
