thats what im saying . it more than "comming off" its serious oxidation is right.

Sure looks like it from where I am sitting. Try polishing out a small place and see out pitted it is. Salt and Aluminum don't get along very good. It looks like they were spinning in knee deep snow and salt for a long time.

Yeah i chipped some clear coat away and its etched into the metal. All the clear coat is still on there. It not comming off like he said. ITS actually oxidation. If it was comming off it would have been a different story.

Ill have to start with some 400 grit maybe on a orbital sander and work my way back to a polish. Im going to try not to strip them. But to just sand the non painted parts that are oxidized.

Bummer man. That's a lot of work ahead of you to do that. Have you thought about having an attorney send him a scare letter or something?

I dont think Ive ever seen a link in a feeback line.. You are a creative individual and seem to have plenty of grey matter in your melon...do what you think is right Shawn, but be prepared for retaliation.

Won't bidding on his stuff actually will help him by bidding up his price?

I once had a despute over advertising that was misrepresended and an attorney's letter was all it took to get my money back. The attorney charged me $60 and it saved me hundreds.

not if i win and never pay the jerk smile then it makes him have to relist the item and wastes his time and money.

This guy will not refund me one red cent. He stands by what he "said" in the auction.

Evan thought its not comming off its oxidized

Shawn p,
I don't know you or the seller. It sucks that he showed
the best wheel on the ad. But at least he said the clearcoat was coming off and the wheels needed work. Unfortunately, since you did not ask him questions, and ask for more pictures, the wheels will take more work than you hoped. You had to know if he was showing only one wheel he would have picked the best one... If you didn't know this consider it a learning experience.

When you are selling stuff it is human nature to put the best spin on it. That is why he only had one wheel in the picture. Likewise, when you are not happy with a deal human nature would be to show the worst example. I notice you include only a picture of one wheel in your web site. It would be alot more convincing if you showed a picture of all five wheels, to clearly show the jerk was misrepresenting the damage to his wheels.

That said it could have been worse. While the finish is bad on those wheels, it doesn't look like they are badly scratched or gouged. If they are all straight, and otherwise in good shape, refinishing them will still get you ahead on the deal (stock toyota aluminum rims are way pricey...)

Finally think some more before you post feedback. There is no rush on this. Has he posted feedback for you yet? Did you pay quickly? Were the email conversations you had for him reasonable? Did he ship the stuff quickly and well packed?

Frankly I don't think the rims were misrepresented. They are in bad shape, but not ruined. Are the tires in decent shape and had the tread he said they did?

As an impartial observer, and occasional ebayer, if you leave negative feedback for him, and he has a good reply, then I might not want to sell stuff to you. Likewise, if he doesn't have much feedback, and has a negative, I might not buy from him unless I knew what I was getting.

You mention fake names and bids. Do that and if he and ebay recognise it and come after you you are screwed as an ebayer. Take the high road...

gotta go. hope i didn't say anything stupid...

pictures here.

I knew i should have asked this jerk for more pictures. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

I've got 65 all positive feedbacks on Ebay and here's my take. It's your fault, you may not like that fact, but it is. If you want more pics, email and ask for them. If the seller can't provide them or more info on the item, DON'T BID ON IT! Toyota made more than one set of rims that year, you'll find more. Sounds like you made an impulse buy. Did you even bother to check the guy's first feedback page? I won't even touch a seller who has more than a couple complaints, certainly not that many in the last six months.

Do your homework before you blame him. He clearly stated they need work and the clearcoat was falling off. Accept is and deal with it. He should get neutral feedback at worst.
