Where are you mounting the amp? Generally speaking, you want to run power cables down one side of the truck and RCA's down the other to eliminate noise. Alternator noise will bleed thru all but the very best sheilded RCA cables...

Run the amp turnon lead with the RCA's...it won't hurt. run all cabling down the rockers ON THE INSIDE OF THE TRUCK from the grommet in the firewall to the amp, under the carpet as said above... www.carstereohelp.com (i think) is a good site with lots of info.
