Does anyone know if the brake calipers from an æ86 4Runner (w/ autolocking hubs) will fit an æ85? My right caliper has seized on the Æ85 and IÆd love to be able to steal the ones off my æ86 parts truck. The shop lists different part numbers, but if they bolt up and work, thatÆs all I need.
Yes you can use them on your axle, you wiil have to change the rotors to 80-83 Landcruiser FJ40/60 vented rotors. You do not need spacers, the reason most of us run spacers is to get the front end almost as wide as the IFS rearend

Thanks everyone. Will the rotors from my IFS 86 slide over my manual hub body on my 85. I was under the impression that the hub was wider on the SFA front ends than on the IFS. I can't switch hubs too, because the IFS has autolocking hubs. If all I have to do is swap rotors and calipers from the 86 to the 85 (I know I'm making it sound easy), then I'll give it a shot, but I want to avoid having to spend much money at all. I still haven't gotten this thing on the road yet, so my main goal is just getting it rolling and legal and then I'll start putting real money into it. So, does that sound right, all I need to do is swap rotors and calipers from the 86 and hope that the wheel clears the caliper?

No, you need to read this thread a little closer, and do some searches on pirate4x4.

If you just swap rotors from your 86, two things right off the bat will not line up. First off, your caliper will not bolt onto the knuckle because the hubs on your 85 are different, and it will position the rotor in the wrong place in reference to your caliper. Secondly, the inner wheel bearing seal on your IFS hub body is not the right size for your larger diameter solid axle spindle, so that will need to be changed out.

Do like both OOPS and I said already, get some 80-83 FJ40/60 rotors and then you can use your IFS calipers. Or, spend the money on the IFS wide axle kits linked above and gain some extra width and use your IFS rotors, hubs, and calipers.

Thanks Adam, that's what I was looking for. I read and reread this post and nowhere could I find anything about the hub itself, I figured this by looking at pics and from my own poking around between the two trucks. Instead of going through the process of trying to get the IFS brakes on my SFA, I'll simply get some loaded calipers from the parts place next door and be done for $45 a pop. I'm not worried about upgrading, I just want to get rolling. Thanks for all the help everyone.....looks like I've found my answer. If anyone has some 84-85 calipers laying around....I'm in the market

DOH! My bad. Of course I knew you needed FJ rotors to make it work but.. Sorry axledeep, that's what I get for squeezing in responses between things to do at work. Tech-induced mad cow disease. Led you down the merry path.
