Jacksonpt- I don't want to hijack this thread with Paragon talk, but I may end up going there instead of GWNF. I tried to start a thread here in the 4-Wheeling Trucks forum, but didn't get any response. I'll post in the thread you started on Paragon's site.

I'm going to Paragon this weekend (Sunday, Oct. 5), so GWNF sounds better to me. I like the sound of different trails, and I haven't been camping at all this year, so I'm overdue. Plus, the fall colors should be beautiful down there.

I sent an email to the ranger's office asking about what's open and what's closed in GWNF. I'll post the response as soon as I hear something.

I've never been to Madison, but I hear they are pretty good trails. I don't have a winch, but i'm up for hitting some harder trails than GWNF if anyone else is. Does anyone know the trails?

Got it covered if we go that route.:D Personally this weekend is for mild wheeling and enjoying the outdoors with my son. Just so you understand all trails at the GWNF are considered easy or mild trails in my book.

I called the Rangers office yesterday. Old Long Run is closed off at the top and the bottom. kephart and the Loop Trails are open. Dictum ridge opens and closes on a daily basis depending on how the owner at the bottom feels.

As far as a plan for the weekend. Kephart and Loop Trails on Saturday + whate ever. Sunday I was thinking of going up to Reddish knob (I think) If you go to the left it is a decent trail and you ride on the ridge line for a while to see the "Fall Colors". Of course this is just my idea and all ideas are welcome.

Are dogs and beer allowed?

Someone usually brings a dog or two.

Beer is a must!

I've got a friend that is probably just comming up for a Sunday run. He got a FJ 40 that hasn't been on hardly any trails since he bought it. We will probably go out Monday to for some sort of ride.
He's got a dog.
I'll be bringing my dog.
Beer will be there. Just pick up the trash that you bring.

Then consider it open unless the property has a new owner. AFAIK he has never told people they couldn't go on the trail.
